Hey guys, looks like my laptop will be reappearing tomorrow or Friday, so I’ll be fully operational by Saturday :) (they claim it won’t be here until next wednesday, but fedex ground service from where they are to me is basically overnight) Anyways, miss you guys, I’ll be back soon :)
It’s really disheartening when you know something you made is getting notes not because people like what you made, but because someone else decided what you made wasn’t good enough or wasn’t right and so they added something else to it and that person caused a string of people to reblog it. Or even if it’s just one person that says it, it’s still discouraging to know someone took the time to take something you made and make it about them and what they want instead of appreciating the thing you took the time to make. It’s even worse when that thing someone decided your post was missing is something you don’t actually like, and there’s a reason why it wasn’t part of what you made when you made it.
People don’t make gifsets and edits to please you. They don’t have to make it about your favorite character or your favorite couple, they make it for themselves and what they like. If you see a gifset about someone else’s ship, or something that doesn’t happen to include your favorite character, leave it alone. If something is obviously a positive post about a character or ship, don’t make it negative. If it’s about characters that aren’t the ones you want, it’s not your right to change it or complain, you weren’t the one who made it. Find something else that does have what you like on it and reblog that instead.
Quite frankly, it’s rude and disrespectful to take someone else’s work and change it or say it’s wrong and then make it about you and your preferences. We put so much time and energy and thought into the things we make, and we don’t make them to please you, so you don’t get to complain when it’s not what you want. How is that such a hard concept to grasp?
